Fifty years ago, man first touched the stars. A single flight changed the world, albiet for a moment. Yet that wonder and glory has gone astray, buried beneath all of humanity's errors.
But to gaze up at space and know our presence there is still a powerful thing.
A flight in low space is nothing compared to the many storied flights some of you undertake on a regular basis. Such a thing is mere child's play to you.
But for humans, it was as if we as a species had been, ever so briefly, propelled to the divine.
The human spirit is weak and incomplete. Yet even in that broken state, it is still capable of miracles. That is why I believe it must be made whole.

It had a very large laser weapon called the Eclipse Canon that could be used to pinpoint targets down on Earth. So, he told everyone he was going to do pretty much that unless his demands were met and to prove he could do it, he blew a huge chunk out of the moon.
It was about the most impressive thing he's ever done so he likes to relive it over and over and over again. Sad, really.

Date: 2011-04-14 02:14 am (UTC)Yeah, unfortunately. That particular one was already there, though it used to belong to his Grandfather or Uncle or something. But he's built giant spaceships before - the biggest one I know about was called the Death Egg. It crashed into my Island once and it was huge. It was destroyed so far as I know, but there's really not much to stop him making another.
