Now she had left without a word.
That was the way to go about things, far preferable to attempting a sentimental goodbye. Cyrus was grateful that Voile had avoided that and simply abandoned the city.
Perhaps she had learned something after all. Her very being was flawed, after all. Emotions were her very core, and as such she could never attain perfection.
Oh, he would see her again, he was sure of it. To recreate her in his new world would be simple enough. She would be human, as emotional beings such as Gardevoirs would have no place in paradise, at least not until they could be tempered into something else.
But in the current world, he doubted any such thing would happen.
The thought of her was to be abandoned until that glorious time. She would know that perfect world, and he would be the one to bring her into it. But until that day, he would have to set her aside.
She had sat on his couch, sunlight streaming in around her, and smiled up at him, taking his hand gently as she sensed his artificially induced passion for her, knowing better than to speak anything. He had, under the influences of that altering sting, had such troubling thoughts, wanting to kiss her, to embrace her...
He shook his head, trying to dispel the memory. It had been only an illusion, something injected into him. It meant nothing, as false as an acted play, and for it to affect him at all was unthinkable.
She hadn't said anything. She hadn't seemed surprised, not even for a moment. She could read his emotions, those damnable things that he would have to get rid of if he could ever be a perfect deity.
And in that moment, he knew why she had shown no reaction.
He would have to kill his emotions again. There could be no more mistakes. No more openings. No more weaknesses.
He would have to be perfect. A god could not hate. A god could not love.
