will_be_god: (A final look at the old world)

So few are willing to take responsibility...this world, no, this universe...is the worse for it.

So many accept things as they are, no matter what the impact on all, without question...

Something is very wrong in us if we do so without regard for anything.

It's almost like responsibility is goin' out of style nowadays. With some folks it's always gotta be someone elses fault or someone elses job. Gotta wonder how far people like that are gonna get in life.

Such is the way of the world. Such is the fate of the world.

...A pity. There is much potential that will never be reached.

There is. So many folks are reluctant to take on even small burdens to make the world a better place. Considering the efforts some of us go to, it can be a little frustrating, honestly.

Some of us, yes...

You are akin in that regard. You understand far more than they ever could. How did you come to that realization?

Well, I've had a pretty big responsibility since my earliest memories, to be honest. I'm the guardian of an extremely powerful artifact. Possibly the most powerful artifact to ever have existed.

Private from here on out

...I see. Muttered things before, yes...perhaps now the full story will reveal itself.

From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
Well, it's not something I talk about in full with a lot of folks. But I'm pretty sure I can trust you. The artifact I guard is called the Master Emerald - It's a huge gemstone containing almost limitless power. Enough to lift a small continent into the sky, or grant God-like powers to someone who can tap into it's energies in the right way. It's tied into the tale of my people and, sadly, was their undoing. My role in life is to keep it from falling into the wrong hands and bringing the world to ruin.

Date: 2011-07-01 02:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
...yes, of course. You are the guardian of the power of the gods...it explains much. Yet that power is a burden to you.

It would be to many. That power, so tempting, but one that cannot be taken on without thought, without devotion...

Date: 2011-07-01 03:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
That's why I even came to this school - To become a stronger and better Guardian and do my duty better than ever. To protect the world from it's own greed... you're right. Power like that corrupts way too easily. It has to be protected and used only ever sparingly and for good.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
I agree.

...That one you fight against, that warmonger. You would use it to undo what he has done, yes?

Date: 2011-07-01 02:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
I've used it to help me put him back in his place once or twice, yeah. Again, sparingly. It's one of his goals in life to take it from me and use it to power war machines - he's done so temporarily in the past.

Date: 2011-07-02 01:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
Yes, one must regulate power...

...It is able to power machines. Approximately how much power output does it produce?

Date: 2011-07-02 04:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
I'm not really a sciencey kinda guy, so I couldn't tell you in like... watts or amps or anything. But like I said, it's used to keep a small continent airborne and does so with ease, and Eggman has used it to power giant robots with huge laser canons before now. The robot was about fifty to sixty feet high and had other weapons too. I have also used it to power my Autoshop project.

...I will tell you this because I trust you. I have constructed a device that I believe will be instrumental in creating a peaceful world. I do not ask this lightly, but do so with the full knowledge that you may turn away at the mere mention.

It must be powered. Currently my plan was to divert power from the school in order to do so, but if that source could be used...if you could lend me that power...I would be able to run it without disruption.

It will be used twice, each time for less than twenty minutes. I will return it to you between uses if you wish.

You are free to decline and I will simply go about my initial plan.

Date: 2011-07-03 06:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
Huh... well... that sounds interesting. I mean, it could power pretty much anything you made. And the idea of some kinda Peace Machine is pretty amazing.

I guess my main question is what does the machine DO exactly?

Oh, and yeah, I'd need it back between uses... I keep it pretty heavily locked up. Also, we'd have to do any of this at night to prevent too many people seeing me move it. It's large.

From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
It is...difficult to explain, in truth.

To be direct, it contains the most valuable information the world holds, and uses that information to create peace. How it does so...the data held within brings forth the most basic states of life. That of will, that of wisdom...even that of emotion.

You know my disdain for emotion. Yet I recognize that it is a part of this world. This device records those most basic of traits and uses it to appeal to those within others.

Date: 2011-07-06 06:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monotreme-101.livejournal.com
Huh. Well... that sounds OK. I mean, so long as it isn't some kinda mind control device or anything. I don't see a problem with helping you out.

When do you wanna do this?

I will seek you out soon. First there are two final pieces I must obtain for it.

There's a difference between accepting reality and being complacent in it.

Date: 2011-06-29 06:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
There is no difference at all. To accept is to settle.

And living in denial is any healthier? I'm trapped here. I accept the reality of that situation. That doesn't mean I'm not trying to find a way back home.

Date: 2011-06-29 06:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
No. To accept, to settle, is far different from a simple realization.

And what if it's something that simply can't be changed? Should I accept that gravity exists, or should I deny it and work to change it?

Rage against that if you believe you must.

I'm NOT raging against anything.

Such defensiveness.

[He's watching you like a hawke but he'll answer this. Because that's how he rolls.]

Well yeah, I can see how that's bad. I think it's sad when people don't take responsibility for things they oughta. I mean, you gotta do that if you wanna get anywhere.

Date: 2011-06-30 05:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
Quite. How is it that such a simple thing is so rare in this world? Or in any world.

Date: 2011-06-30 09:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
Well maybe it's gotta do with how people grow up. Sometimes people ain't got a choice but to be responsible for things.

Date: 2011-07-01 02:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
There is no other choice.

I can actually agree with you there.

[He should smack himself every time he said that.]

Yes...yet it seems that in practice, those words are lost.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
Maybe it seems that way, but I think everyone's got an opportunity to learn about responsibility if they're willin' to take it at some point.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
To learn...yet there are few to teach.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
Probably not always like you'd teach in a class. Not all life lessons oughta be taught in a classroom.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
That is not what I mean.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
Well okay lemme explain it another way.

What I mean is it ain't somethin' we can always teach someone. You can't sit 'em down sometimes and talk with 'em and expect for 'em to understand. Sometimes, they gotta learn themselves. They might be too young, or somethin' needs to happen to wake 'em up. But everyone's different and takes it in at different speeds. Not a lotta people live the same way.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
And yet who teaches when such ignorance prevails?

Date: 2011-07-01 04:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
It'd be up to them. It's a win or lose thing. If they ain't got parents or people around 'em in general to learn from then it's somethin' they gotta learn from themselves or they can't do half the stuff they got the potential to do in their life. They could take the hint or sink.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
One would think that the concept would suppose pass/fail on the world, yet it seems that many are able to survive with no sense of responsibility.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com
[He is amazed by how much he's kinda agreeing, this is a world record. Because Mac's and Cyrus' relationship end in clashing ideals 88% of the time.]

True, and it's sad. But I've known a lotta people, some bein' my friends, who had a lot on their shoulders growin' up. It's a matter of dependin'. I don't think they've experienced life if they ain't learned one way or another about responsibility.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com
It is a matter of existence, or it ought to be. We are all of us responsible for the world.

It is a fundemental power of the world, of sentient life, that goes ignored and you dare to dismiss it?
